On da Come Up with Caddy Da Don
Bmore’s finest has really created a stir in the DMV. Caddy will tell he ready to capitalize on the attention and put on for his city.
We decided to catch up with Caddy and talk about his new mixtape, Powder Meth Blow, his city’s place in the DMV and more. Hip Hop Ruckus believes Caddy is buzzworthy enough our next artist On da Come Up.
HHR: What’s your definition of Hip-Hop?
Caddy Da Don: I think it’s expressing yourself however you see fit.
HHR: You’re finding some success with your hit record “Grindin’ On Me.” How have you been able to handle the success of the record?
Caddy Da Don: I’m just following the blueprint. I set high goals for myself so I’m not easily impressed, but I also know I’m a blessed man.
HHR: The internet is like one of the biggest ways for new and even veteran artists to get buzz and promote projects. Are you up on the Internet and do you have any favorite sites?
Caddy Da Don: Yes, I’m on several sites but WorldStarHipHop, YouTube, Datpiff, AllBmoreHipHop and of course HipHopRuckus are some of my favorites. These are the sites that I visit most often.
HHR: Now you’re from Baltimore and the DMV is a unit consisting of: DC, Maryland and Virginia. Although it’s a unit, are there difference’s in how an artists from Bmore sounds versus someone from DC and Northern Virginia?
Caddy Da Don: Absolutely, we all a have different slang and slight accents, but it’s all love now a days in the DMV! When you look across the board, talent runs up and down this area. I got respect for those that come out from this area and put on for the DMV. The last dude to really come has been Wale. I understand that my time is only to break out is only a short time away, but my city is behind my now. That feeling alone makes me feel like I’ve already made it.
HHR: So, are you working on anything new like a mixtape that the people can hear?
Caddy Da Don: My new mixtape “Powder Meth Blow” just dropped. It went up on several mixtape sites, but if you go to my new website www.caddydadon.com, you can get it for free. It’s a classic and it’s laying the foundation for what’s really to come down the road.
HHR: Great, would you like to give out any shout outs?
Caddy Da Don: Shout out Dre Films for the crazy good job he did on my video “Grindin’ On Me” down in Miami, the whole DMV and my team and label, Monarch Entertainment Group.
