The 2009-2010 REGGAE SUNSPLASH MUSIC FESTIVAL will be celebrating it’s proud legacy with star studded festivals in Florida, and Brazil.

The son of REGGAE SUNSPLASH founder, Tony Johnson and his company, Junction have teamed with BWPresents, Bill Walker, and Morgan Carey, of Digital Riddims Inc. to illuminate the historic brand, most often associated with the timeless performances of pioneers, Bob Marley, Greg Isaacs, Steel Pulse, Stevie Wonder and so many other legendary superstars.

REGGAE SUNSPLASH MUSIC FESTIVALS 2009-2010 will feature chart topping mainstream superstars and be a virtual who’s who in Reggae Music. Some of the interested artists who have been invited include, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, No Doubt, Sly and Robbie, Burning Spear, Willie Nelson, Beres Hammond, Black Uhuru, and Half Pint. The show’s producers, in the interests of honoring the History of Sunsplash, have brought on The Original Wailers who will be jamming with surprise celebrity guests, and backing up headliners as well. The support of a cluster of key stations throughout Florida has already been secured, and record breaking attendance is anticipated.

WTF? Mariah Carey??? The best US Reggae Festival is still Reggae Rising in California on the Eel River. True to roots reggae and Beautiful natural surroundings. Sunsplash is a Jamaican tradition with roots reggae. Don’t commercialize it and try to pass it off as a real reggae festival.

P.S – Here’s a thought…….Why don’t you replace L.Kravitz, No Doubt, Mariah Carey etc. for bands like, THIRD WORLD, YELLOWMAN, EEK-A-MOUSE, STEEL PULSE, THE WAILERS, ZIGGY, I can go on and on……..get with the program! It’s a disgrace to put Top 40 pop in the line up of what’s referred to as Reggase Sunsplash…….Better work on a new name for your annual gig!

    On June 26th, 2009 6:31 pm

Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, No Doubt……….uuuuh, I thought this was REGGAE Sunsplash? What BS….sounds to me like the founder/person running this whole gig is in it for money. What ever happened to good ole’ roots, rock reggae……bring that back, not this pop shit!

If you’re going to let greed and commercialism push out meaningful music, please don’t disrespect the the the music and the artist by calling this event Reggae anything. Know your history, mon. Reggae broke away from R&B in the 60’s and was established as a unique musical style. Get some real reggae artist. Respect!

Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz? I know you got to get the butts in the seats, but people go to reggae shows for reggae. What about some Stephen Marley? Steel Pulse? Toots? Barrington? Eek-a-mouse?
