"IYKAS: The Chronicles" feat. The Runners by Queen Princess

Posted on Friday, March 28, 2008

I usually don’t do this, yeah okay I’m lying……..Alright, I’m off my Lil Weezy mode. Anyway, in these here chronicles we have yet to see an edition of IKYAS: The Chronicles dedicated to a producer. Well here I am today giving you the rundown of one of today’s hottest producer groups. Just as some artists get lost in the crowd, people behind the scenes AKA the producers tend to get overlooked as well.

Dru and Mayne better known as The runners have managed to make a name for themselves in 2007 and are probably going to really show and prove in the ’08. With all the heavy bass beating hood songs that came out over the past year, it’s no surprise that hits like DJ Khaled’s “I’m so hood,” and “Born and Raised,” Trick Daddy’s “Bet Dat,” and Rick Ross’ “Hustlin” all had something in common; the masterminds The Runners behind the track.

Although Miami has become a creative haven for artists, The Runners come from Vero Beach, Florida and have managed to move music listeners for the eight years that they have been producing hits. Despite being from a different city, one of their objectives is to create a sound for Miami as Dr. Dre has created a sound for Cali and Their work is just beginning to surfacing two of their most recent productions are for the stars of Making the Band 4; Day 26 “Come in” and Danity Kane’s “Extasy.”

One guy of the runners looks like a regular hip-hop industry something while the other dude looks like Jamie Kennedy’s double from Malibu’s Most Wanted. Either way, these two are some cool dudes who are making major moves where they matter most.

The Snooze Banger

This song was mentioned above, but it’s just that hot to be certified as the snooze blocker. Played on every radio station and in every club across America was this banger. That’s right you guessed it DJ Khaled’s “I’m so hood (Remix)”

The Alarm Clock

The Runners are behind some of the most well known tracks. Here are some of the most recent. The first is Rick Ross’ “Speedin’” from his new album Trilla. Next is Jeezy’s “Dreamin’”, the typical slow song mixed with a little thuggish swag. Lastly is “Born N Raised,” a song that surfaced late last year, but is actually a throwback.
