"Can Young Buck Save The Unit?" by BadNews

Posted on Friday, March 30, 2007

2003 history was made. 50 Cent dropped the classic "Get Rich or Die Trying" EP under AfterMath. Instant fame. 2004, he introduced us to his click Llyod Banks, with his lyrical and witty charm that earned him platinum status. Tony Yayo (not pictured) was a crazy, reckless dancing predicate felon that earned gold status and got arrerested more times than that your crazy uncle. Then there was that southern guy. The ex Hot Boy from Cash Money that has the southern drawl with that "I don't give a buck" additude that upheld the G-units' sturdy, thugged out image and has also helped earn him a platinum plaque. But lets fast forward to '05, when the unit had more "Beef" then the grocery store and it seemed like everyone was either dissing them or wearing a "G-unit Tee". Well a few months later and a few artists deeper, Lloyd Banks didn't reach his platinum status, Yayo was charged with another crime and it seems we had to wait a little bit longer for that Hot Rod album and still there was no sign of M.O.P.

Since the "Outta Control" remix.... what happened to the "powerhouse" that was Interscope Records that Janet Jackson had built? Did we grow tired of the music. Did certin rappers "expose" certin DVD's that questioned the units' "Gangsta Persona", or did the music business reality finally catch up to them? Either way it seems g-unit back is against the wall and they now have something to prove rather then dominate the rap game they once had in their mits. When Mobb Deep dropped, they flopped. When Lloyd Banks released his second LP, it flopped. Now its up to the Cashville, Tennessee's own Young Buck to show the world that the unit "never ook a break" and it can suffer a few losses, but still have "the Game on Smash".

Well Buck's opportunity came on Tuesday (3/26/07) when his second LP titled, "Buck the World" was released. Now the days are passing...the clock is ticking.... can Young Buck's rowdy album help get G-Unit "out of the trenches"and "reclaim the flag" they once held so victorious? Well judging from the critics and reviews, it looks like the answer is mixed.

Now the Badnews opinion. Its no secret The South is running the game hands down and with Buck having the "least beef" out the group, he can manuver down south and hook up with certain artists that have no problem with being on a his lbum like Young Jeezy, 8Ball and MJG or T.I. Plus, he just knows how to make records. If anyone can put the unit back in the mainstream spotlight its definitely him. If you have the album and happen to find the hidden track, you will know its only a matter of time before we see Feburary 8th, 2003 flash before our eyes all over again.....to be continued.
